Happy Friday guys! Today’s recipe is Poppy Seed Bread Knots – soft and fluffy on the inside and golden crispy on the outside bread knots.
What you need:
- plain flour
- dry yeast
- milk
- butter
- salt
- sugar
- egg white
- poppy seeds
They’re delicious served warm with butter, jam, cheese or just on their own.
Here’s how to make these lovely Poppy Seed Bread Knots
Ingredients:
- 600g plain flour, sifted
- 10g dry yeast
- 200ml milk, warm
- 80g butter
- 1tbsp poppy seeds
- 1 egg white, beaten
Preparation:
- Combine the sugar, yeast and warm milk and leave for 5 minutes until it’s thick and creamy.
- Place the sifted flour in a big bowl or a shallow tray, add the salt and yeast mixture. Use a fork to incorporate the ingredients together. The result should be tiny dough pieces. Cover with cling film and leave for 40 minutes to rest.
- Remove the cling film form the tray and incorporate the butter in.
- Dust your work surface with flour and knead the dough for 5 minutes. It should be soft and moist.
- Divide it into 8 balls, roll them out into sausages and tie them into knots, tucking the ends underneath.
- Place them on a greased baking tray and let them rest for 30 minutes. They should be double in size after that.
- Brush them with the beaten egg white and sprinkle the poppy seeds.
- Bake in preheated oven for about 20 minutes at 190°C.
Enjoy!
