Happy Friday guys! Recipe of the day is Cheese & Chives Scones – buttery, cheesy, with a crispy top and soft and fluffy on the inside. 🤤
I followed Mary Berry’s scone recipe with a few tiny adaptations. It can be found here https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/tea_time_scones_77839.
What you need:
- self-raising flour
- baking powder
- eggs
- butter
- milk
- cheese
- chives
Here’s how to make these Savoury Cheese & Chives Scones:
Ingredients:
- 450g self-raising flour
- 2tsp baking powder
- 2 eggs
- 150ml milk
- 100g butter, softened
- 200g mild Cheddar cheese, grated
- 40g chives, chopped
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- In a bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Mix in the butter with your fingertips until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
- In a measuring jug whisk the eggs and add the milk, the mixture should be around 250ml.
- Combine the flour and egg mixture. Add the chives and cheese, transfer onto floured worktop and knead gently for a few minutes until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangular, about 2cm thick, use a cutter and cut out the scones.
- Arrange them on a baking tray covered with baking parchment and bake in the oven for about 12 minutes.
- Serve them with cream cheese, clotted cream or as they are. They’re super delicious with tea, coffee and wine! 👌
Enjoy!
I hope you guys love this recipe as much as we did. Stay tuned for more quick, easy and tasty recipes coming next week. As it’s half term here, apart from the usual crafts and movie nights, we’ve got lots of baking planned with the little helpers. 😀
Also, there’s a huge monster pumpkin, waiting to be carved, which means lots of pumpkin flesh, which means more pumpkin recipes. 🤪 😃 🎃 I hope you’re not over them just yet. 😂
Have a wonderful tasty weekend and keep safe! xx
