Happy Thursday guys! Recipe of the day is Easy Swedish Meatballs in creamy sauce! This is the ultimate comfort food and no one ever complains when I make these! 😀
Why called Swedish Meatballs ?
Right, so I’ve always wondered about the origin of these beauties and just recently I’ve read a very very interesting article. It appears, according to this article, that the Swedish Meatballs were actually brought from Turkey in the early 18th century by King Charles XII. A lot of people support this theory but there are quite a lot who don’t agree. I’ll leave it to you to decide whether this might be true or not. I love the Turkish kofte as much as the Swedish Meatballs so that doesn’t change anything at all. I have, however, changed the recipe a bit, improved it, to be more precise. 🤣 I have now added some Dijon mustard and cream to the sauce which make it so silky and creamy! 👌 I served mine with buttery mashed potatoes but pasta, noodles, rice work fine too.
What you need for the Swedish Meatballs
- beef and pork mince(50/50)
- onion
- egg
- breadcrumbs
- parsley
- flour
- butter
- double cream
- Dijon mustard
- fresh parsley
- beef bouillon
- nutmeg
- allspice
- garlic powder
- salt and pepper

I love swedish meatballs thanks to Ikea. I have made some in the past with just beef mince but I like the combination of beef and pork that you have used. Will have to give these a try.
Haven't made sweedish meatballs in years! Thanks for the reminder, it is time! Looking great!
Thank you Caroline!
I find the beef meatballs a bit dry so I often add some pork to make them juicier and tastier!
Thank you!
I can eat these every other day! They're just delicious and comforting food!
excellent…easy and very tasty…served mine over egg noodles
