Happy weekend guys! Recipe of the day is Valentine’s Rose Cake – a beautiful heart-shaped cake, perfect to surprise your loved ones. 🌹

I was actually aiming for bright red layer which obviously didn’t happen. 🤣 But I actually really like this colour – kind of like a combination between pink and read, I guess.
Anyway, the cake is quite simple to make, it tastes light and fresh and I think looks quite lovely. 😍❤️

What you need:
- flour
- eggs
- buttermilk
- eggs
- sugar
- sunflower oil
- double cream
- cream cheese
- chocolate
- salt
- baking powder
- pink or red food colouring
- roses for decoration

Here’s how to make this lovely Valentine’s Rose Cake:
Ingredients:
- 300g flour (use cake flour, if possible)
- 200g sugar
- 150ml sunflower oil
- 200ml buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 2tsp vanilla extract
- 2tsp baking powder
- 1tsp salt
- pink or red food colouring

- For the cream coating:
- 200ml double cream
- 200g cream cheese
- 100g powder sugar

Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 170°C.
- In a bowl, combine all the dry ingredients.
- In a separate bowl mix the sugar and eggs until fluffy.
- Add the oil, vanilla extract and buttermilk.
- Then gradually start combining the dry and wet ingredients, mixing well.
- Finally divide the mixture into two 20 cm baking trays lined with greased baking parchment.
- Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes. Leave on a rack to cool down completely.
- To make the cream coating, simply mix all the ingredients together until the mixture is quite thick.
- Spread some of it in between the cake layers and use the rest of it to cover the cake.
- To make the chocolate hearts, use a silicone mould and melted chocolate.
- Refrigerate for at least three hours before serving.
- Enjoy!
